在沒有了 PlayStation 的參展下 , E3 2019 將會在 6月11至13日 ( 美國時間 ) 於美國洛杉磯會議中心舉行 , 回顧 PlayStation 缺席 E3 2019 的主因 , 索尼互動娛樂全球工作室（SIE WWS）負責人 Shawn Layden 早前接受 CNET 訪問時透露，E3 已經不是主要宣傳時機；關鍵之一是網路普及，遊戲新訊隨手可得，E3 逐漸失去獨特地位。 另一關鍵在於索尼認為 E3 的 6 月份檔期，已是年中階段，此時與夥伴商討全年計劃未免為時已晚。因此索尼另於 2 月舉辦「Destination PlayStation」，針對零售商、第三廠夥伴磋商規劃。 縱使 E3 依舊是全球玩家關注重大遊戲發表的焦點，但是 Shawn Layden 認為世界環境在變，但 E3 始終沒變。因此，索尼今年定調聚焦大型遊戲開發，在遊戲數量減少的此時，他斷言從現在一直到 2019 年 6 月前都沒有新發表可說。
